Karpinski Engineering provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and technology (MEPT) design for a two story vertical addition to the existing Ross Heart Hospital. This project advances the University’s academic plan by enabling the Medical Center Facility Plan which supports continued clinical, teaching, and research missions at the University. Approximately 73,000 SF were added above the southern portion of the existing facility for additional 60 patient beds and support spaces. The MEPT design required the extension of all building systems including the elevators, stairs, ATS, fire protection, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical. Major infrastructure changes were also required in the heating and chilled water pumping systems.
