KE to Participate in Cuyahoga County HQ Design
Karpinski Engineering is providing MEP design for Cuyahoga County’s new headquarters, which will be constructed on the site of the Huron and Prospect buildings, using existing building foundations. The County will lease space from property owner, Geis Companies, who will also serve as architect and design-build contractor for the project.
According to Crain’s Cleveland Business, approximately 750 county workers will move into the new building from several downtown locations. The headquarters building is one part of a $180-million renewal of the Ameritrust Complex along East Ninth Street, between Euclid and Prospect Avenues. The facility will be eight stories tall and about 225,000 SF. It is slated for occupancy by mid-2014.
In addition to providing MEP design for the building’s core and shell, KE will design the new security system. Similar high-rise projects KE has completed include Eaton Center in Beachwood, Ohio, and Goodyear’s
Global Headquarters in Akron, Ohio. The building owner,Geis Companies, requested the use of an HVAC system that was based on the system used in the new Goodyear Tire & Rubber World Headquarters building, except smaller and taller. Design will be submitted for permit this spring.
